Managing Social Media – What you should be doing every day

There is no denying that managing social media accounts for your business is a time consuming task. The more organised you are at the start of the month, the easier it becomes for you to manage throughout it. Before we get into what you should do each day, we suggest each month you take some time to plan out your social media schedule. We like to do this 2 – 4 weeks in advance to ensure that we are organised, keep on track with our posts and deliver engaging content to our fans.

When it comes to the day to day social media must do’s – here is our list;

– Check your notifications in the morning and intermittently throughout the day. Turning on your notifications makes this process easier as you can monitor if any comments or reviews are made to your page while your not actively on social media and respond in a timely matter or retweet anything that is relevant. Monitoring and management of your pages are very important when working to maintain credibility online.

– Post! Depending on what platforms your on you need to be thinking about your posts everyday. If you haven’t planned out your social media calendar in advance then you will need to review your content and post each day (this can be very time consuming hence why we plan our calendars in advance). As an example, we recommend posting to Facebook once per day and Instagram 2-3 times per day.

– Check the groups you’ve joined. Scroll through the groups you’re part of and see if you can comment on any posts that have been made since you last visited. It is important to be an active group member so other members get to know who you are.

– Review your newsfeed. To grow your network and increase brand awareness it is important to follow, engage and share from other pages/accounts you’re following. Go through and like, comment or share interesting posts you read that may be of benefit to your own network.

– Review your metrics. The goal on social media is to grow a following and get engagement so you want to be checking each day how well your channels are performing. This will ensure you keep on track to achieving set KPI’s and give you time to tweak future posts to make sure your getting the most out of your efforts.

We most commonly get asked how long should one spend on social media each day and this is a hard question to answer. It really will come down to how active you want to be and how quickly you want to grow your brand and awareness. If you stick to the daily tips listed above then aim for 30 minutes to one hour (broken up if needed) each day.
